China Travel as they are known in America and chinatour.com as they are known in Xi’an are totally reliable and super efficient. They organized my trip down the Yangtze, 3 nights in Shanghai, the bullet train to Xi’an for the Terracotta Warriors and return to Shanghai. All went like clockwork and furthermore their Guides were very good and their English first class. Finally if you are looking for value for money – look no further.

The trip which began in Beijing and ended in Shanghai featured outstanding hotels from 3++ stars to 5 star stays, which were well above what my wife and I expected at the price we paid. The bullet train rides from Beijing to Jinan and from Qufu to Suzhou fulfilled a bucket list item for us. The Golden Mask Dynasty Show in Beijing is not to be missed. Certainly we recommend China Tour and Amy Lin for orchestrating such a highly enjoyable trip.

China is so rich in history and this is the perfect way to get to immerse yourself in the culture. One of the best bargains out there. We did a 2-week tour through China organized by ChinaTour.com and Tom Wan out of their Los Angeles Office. It was perfect. In Xi’an the terracotta warriors are such an amazing experience – a must see. The whole trip from Beijing to Shanghai was perfectly organized and run. I will be going back to China and will always use Tom and ChinaTour.com!

We did the 8 day China tour with Intertrips (Chinatours.com). Ive been to over 30 countries and we just can’t say enough good things about the whole experience. The accommodations were 4-5 star, our tour guides we both fun and knowledgeable, the tours were interesting. Basically, China was great.

Travelled to Beijing and Shanghai with Intertrips and it was great. Number one reason is the price. Although we went there during off-season, their pricing is still second to none. The accommodation had some little hiccups (Hangzhou) but nonetheless, it was amazing. The tour guides were knowledgeable (Lily really took care of the group). Overall, I would recommend going with this tour company when going to China.

We had an Amazing trip. Our tour coordinator,Rene, was exceptional. Every stop exceeded expectations and we got way more than we expected for the money. The hotels were mostly really good. The Beijing hotel was not as good as the others in Wuhan and Shanghai. The cruise down the Yangtze River was really good and all the optional tours were well worth the money. My trip to China was highlighted by hiking the Great Wall. It was my 60th birthday and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The scenery was breathtaking and we had a great group of travelers. The trip was very organized and the excursions were awesome. I would recommend taking all of them. The tour guides were very good and informative. The tour offered a glimpse of China in all its glory.

Our experience of seeing the Terracotta soldiers at Xi’an was excellent. What a thrill to be there. It was far more than I had expected. We were also given a tour of the nearby shop where they make replica’s and show you how they were actually made. Including the beautiful handicrafts of lacquered furniture.

This was nothing short on an excellent tour that was arranged by Tom Wan. We had not planned on visiting China this soon, but the price was great, with super accommodations, and guided tours. All of the tours were very interesting with the exception of the tour for Chinese medicine with the doctors, we could have done without that. Thank Tom!

I loved my experience from the beginning to the end. From getting visas in LA to the last moments at the Shanghai airport. The tour was amazing, outstanding really. The guides were highly educated kind and knowledgeable. Hotels and accommodations luxurious. The food could not have been any better. All the tours were better than expected. China Tour/InterTrips did an outstanding job putting together a 17-day tour covering the major attractions of Beijing, Shanghai, Yangtze Cruise, Yellow Mountain and Xian. The tour was simply the best….from the bus drivers to the tour guides who were all very professional in making sure the entire trip was fun, safe and a memorable one. We booked our Vietman and Bali trip through Intertrips. We would highly recommend them and their tours. They are a very professional travel company. They handled all trip details, visa etc. and always promply answered our inquiries. Our trip included all the highlights of both these countries and tour guides and accomodations were excellent!

The deal seemed to good to be true, and at then I ended up getting more than I expected. Hotels were awesome, the tour guide Michael and Peter were both very friendly, knowledgeable and gave us all great tips when the tour was over and we were on our own. A trip like this one is good for families or even if you go on your own. By the end of our trip I was friends with more than half the people on our tour. We traveled to Beijing, Souzshou, Hangshou and Shanghai. The tour included so many cool places and even some meals.

It was an outstanding experience, and our guide gave enough time for private reflection on the tour of the Terracotta Warriors as well as in-depth narrative about the culture in Xi’an. I would highly recommend this company–believe me, when I spend quality time and money to go abroad, I want a quality tour experience which Chinatour provides.

After a long cruise, my wife and I stayed four days in Beijing. I made direct coordination with Chinatours prior to leaving for the cruise. Because of the cruise schedule, our arrival didn’t mesh with the normally offered tours. However, the agent was most accommodating by tailoring a tour specific to our desires. Even with a private van, the cost was quite reasonable. Without doubt, the service and professionalism of the guide made our tour one of the best ever for us.

I was looking for a travel agency for a long time, which would help me realize my dream journey in China. Because I knew exactly what cities, places I wanted to visit within 9 days I sent my query to several travel agencies. Two refused to tell me that it was unreal in such a short time and one agreed but the price was too high. Only one response from China Tour was positive. There was no problem with realizing my dream for a very reasonable price. Contacting Jim Li from start to finish was very good. He helped us improve our plan as well. this was our first trip with a tour, first out of the country. we were happily pleased! all hotels included fantatic breakfast buffets and were top of the line accomodations. the tours were fun, educational, and we saw much more of what China had to offer than we could have seen on our own. The only “negative” would be that we would have liked to have more time at certain places, such as the Great Wall, the IMperial Gardens, but it was all in all a great trip! We did not get to go to X’ian, much to our disappointment, but this review is based on the rest of our trip to China through Chinatours

My husband and I just returned from an 11 day visit to China booked through Intertrips. We had an amazing time, saw so many things and stayed at the nicest hotels. We visited the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Great Wall, Lingering Garden, Yellow Mountain, the Bund in Shanghai and so many other fantastic places. The tour also took us to a few factories that were obviously targeted for tourists, but it was interesting to learn about jade, pearls, silk, bamboo and tea. We stayed at some fantastic hotels and all of our guides were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Overall we loved this trip and would recommend it to anyone interested.

My husband and two kids (ages 8 and 10 at the time), took our first trip to China in 2015. We traveled to Bejing, Souzshou, Hangszhou and Shanghai. The tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable. We especially liked our guide named Ivy in Beijing. She was super friendly and very nice and patient with our kids. We were a little worried about taking our kids on such a far trip but they did great and loved the experience. Also, the hotels were wonderful, comfortable and the food delicious. I would recommend ChinaTour to anyone looking to travel to China.

My husband and I went on the 9 day chinatour.com tour and it was Amazing! Our tour guide was excellent and was very tentative to our needs. On our day “off” we asked him if he could help us go shopping. He planned it out for us and even went with us to make sure we were taken care of. My husband works at a 4 star hotel in USA and as lovely as it is the hotels we stayed at were absolutely gorgeous, though we didn’t spend much time in them! I would and have told many people about this company and tour…I would and do encourage all we’ve talked to about our China Tour vacation to GO!!…We actually visited in April 2015…but still rave about it!!

Wow! Steve was our tour guide and he was a fountain of knowledge as well as being friendly and helpful at all times. The city has a grand history which Steve explained very well and the highlight of our trip was the visit to the Terra Cotta Solders which was awesome to say the least. The American hotel we stayed at was wonderful with a breakfast buffet that would pale in comparison to most brunches we offer. I do not hesitate to recommend to you this very affordable tour which gets 5 stars from me.

I was concerned at first! Intertips/China Tours exceeded all my expectations and the price was exceptional. Intertrips handled all visa requirements etc. Hotels were exceptional and touring was in beautiful buses that are clean and driver was great. We had an english speaking tour guide through out and was at the airport when we arrived. We travel a lot and this tour was exceptional. Chinatour did a great job! Tour guides spoke good English, the program was packed with tours and activities. Shopping tours also were informative and not pushy. Considering a very low cost of the tour we were ok with them. Chinatour let us customize our itinerary and add Xian to it. We had a private guide and a driver for the day of our arrival and the next day. Both of them went above and beyond to satisfy our curiosity and answer all our questions. Hotel in Xian was on the main street in walking distance to city attractions. Highly recommended!

From the time we contacted ChinaTour.com until we returned the U.S. the experience was amazing. Tom Wan was extremely helpful. We toured Beijing, Xi”an and Shanghai. Our accommodations were fabulous. Our tour guides, May, Steve and Jessica were so knowledgeable and extremely kind. The sites were all very interesting, beautiful and filled with so much history.
I would not recommend the portion of the tour where we visited a pharmacy. Although everyone was friendly and the doctors and those who translated for them we kind but this part of the tour didn’t interest me at all.
I definitely want to go back and I will refer others to China Tour.

What an amazing job done by China Tour Travel Services to help me returned my Samsung tablet left at the Xian Security International Airport. They told me that they will try to contact the Xian airport. After several weeks passed it was returned to me back here in the United States. I don’t know how they did it but grateful to have it back because all the pictures taken in China is in the table.
The trip in China is excellent especially the services of the tour guide is excellent and the hotels were 5 star. I fully recommended this China Tour Travel Services and I will give 5 star satisfaction for good services.

Thank you Tom Wan and Chinatour.com for a memorable week in China!! We spent three days in Beijing, two days in Xi’an and two days in Shanghai. Our guides were excellent; Michael, Steve and Qi. Although our days were full, they were not overwhelming and we really felt that we got a good taste of the culture. The optional tours were wonderful. Our hotels were luxurious and the front desk staff spoke English. The highlights of our trip was the Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors. It was a wonderful experience. We would do it again for a two week visit because there is still so much more to see and do. We highly recommend Tom Wan and China Tours!

I did not go on this particular day tour, but the entire “9-Splendid-Days-Tour” was spectacular, dare I say splendid and I enjoyed every moment.
In particular, John in Beijing and the wonderful Qi in Shanghai were ideal hosts, knowledgeable and charming and deferential. I am so appreciative of their guidance.
Shanghai is a thrilling city… I want to go back. The buses are clean and an efficient way to travel in China, the air flights were easy and comfortable. The hotels were spectacular, very clean, comfortable and very luxurious.

I really didn’t expect much given that we only paid $699 for a TZOO offer that included air from SFO and a week of sightseeing. But this tour really exceeded my expectations. Our hotels were all really nice, the guides super friendly and knowledgeable and the tours interesting. I will say there was a lot of “shopping” time and visits to specific stores for Chinese jade, pearls, tea, silk etc. but you don’t have to buy anything if you don’t want to. It is a group tour with a bus full of other people so be prepared to move at a fairly quick pace. Overall I was really impressed. I wish they’d do a tour like this for Thailand or Bali at a similar price point and I’d jump on it!

I went on the promotional tour which is a give away. You might wonder about the low price, but everything was top rate. I departed on Hunan Airlines from San Jose on a Dreamliner. All the hotels in China were top notch and superior to American hotels. Even the restaurants in the hotels were great from a buffet breakfast (included) to a buffet dinner (on your own). Included everything you need to see for your first trip to China – Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou. While some didn’t like some of the tour places they took you to, they were all an experience reflecting Chinese culture – pearl museum, jade factory, silk factory, tea plantation, Chinese herbal shop. . .

We used ChinaTour for a spring trip to China and they were very easy to work with. They allowed a private tour if booked with 13+ people or more. We customize the basic 9 day trip to be fabulous and just what we wanted. They did added tours like this one and different hotels. It did take a bit of leg work on my part, but well worth the effort. They guides in each city were really good and all of the transfers worked well. We traveled on the same international and domestic flights as the basic tour did that was being done at the same time and it appeared that they enjoyed themselves as well.
If you have a large family or a group of people this was a great way to do a custom tour on a budget.

We’ve been on several international tours, and the one hosted by ChinaTours.com is still our favorite. We visited Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Suzhou. It was extremely organized, fulfilling, and we stayed in top-notch hotels. Our tour guides were really professional, fun to be around, and easy to understand, as well. The only word of caution I would give is that if you go in the spring/fall, the hotels may not have turned on the AC yet and if you like to sleep in a cold environment, you may be out of luck and forced to use open windows. Besides this, our trip was flawless and we’re very thankful for the hospitality that we were shown.

At any rate, I would strongly recommend visiting China through Chinatour.com.

There are no words that can explain the wonderment of this world! What a whilwind experience. The food was “to die for”; scruptious and plentiful. Such history this land has to offer; far more than just the unbelievable “Long Wall”, a.k.a.: The Great Wall Of China, which is “unreal!” Seeing, is still not believing. How the ancients crafted it is truly a wonder of the world! Absolutely recommend saving one’s money and take a trip to this country; worth every nickel and far more. Residents were so nice and helpful. The hotels, one never wanted to leave. Hopefully you who are reading this will be encouraged to go. Jenna was so helpful and responsive throughout the process, She kindly answered all of our questions and made us feel like she was always there for us. I knew that when she said she’d do something that I didn’t have to worry! This was the first time we have used a Tour company and I ended up asking some pretty silly questions. I also managed to mix up my papers…grabbing the wrong ones when I packed. Even from halfway across the world Jenna quickly eased my concerns and made sure I knew that every detail was handled to perfection.
We did the tour of Myanmar she arranged all international and domestic Air travel. The guides she set us up with were all terrific and fluent in English. The hotels were all 4-5 Stars.

I did extensive research, read a lot of reviews to plan a trip to China with my family of four. I chose China Tour to help me plan a trip of a lifetime and we were never disappointed. Maggie is amazing, she is extremely patient and kind. We spoke for weeks before the trip. Maggie helped us plan a custom trip as it was especially for celebrating our daughter’s graduation. We covered Beijing, Xian, Chengdu where we visited the Panda Breeding Research Center, Yangtze River Cruise (3 nights) Shanghi, Guilin and Hong Kong. All our hotels were 5 star. Tour included breakfast some lunch and some dinners. I cannot say enough about our guides they were all excellent!! I would not for a moment hesitate to recommend this company.

Excellent and exceptional trip, accommodations, tours and entertainment. WE arrived and were greeted with English speaking tour guides who escorted us throughout the visit; through the final airport departure/baggage security, etc. [extremely helpful as the attendants spoke limited English] making this a speedy process.
Beautiful country: Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou; the tours of the Great Wall–and hiking/walking it! Wow! The luncheons, West Lake boat ride, Huang Pu River Cruise, the Green Tea Village and the visit to the Bund. Then the evening performance at the theater was breathtakingly enjoyable. We took the nine day China Tour with visits to Beijing, Xian, and Shanghai. We booked this tour because of the incredibly low price which included airfare from and to the U.S. as well as two flights within China; all 4 star hotels, most meals, local transportation, and incredible tour guides. Among other places we visited Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, Xian terracotta warriors, and the Bund. Our eyes were opened not only to the vibrant current atmosphere but also to innumerable aspects of Chinese history and culture. Tour details, organization, and schedule were well planned out and minor changes were made on the spot at the request of the tour group. Booking was straight forward and not complicated. Took this tour from ChinaTour with a little hesitation, since the price was too low, way too low for how much they were offering. It was 9 days and visited Beijing, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghay. I came back with the desire to take another tour with them. The hotels were fantastic, good accommodations, nice modern decor and friendly staff. The hotel in Beijing could use a bit of renovation, looks a wee tired. The places and sightseeing they included were outstanding. The promenade at Shanghai with the view to the modern city is breathtaking. Breakfast included everyday, and a good one, and some other meals. Our tour guide was Lady Dragon, took a while to take her face out of my mind, she is very charismatic. I would certainly recommend this tour to anyone, you’ll enjoy it as I did.

Maggie did a wonderful job accommodating all of our family members for a two week vacation in June. Chinatour.com provided us a trip to Xian, Jiuzhaigao, Huanglong, Four Girls Mountain, Wolong, Chengdu, and more. Xi’an itself was a beautiful city where we were able to see the ancient, original capital of China and the terracotta soldiers.

During the trip we were also able to visit a panda reserve in Chengdu where we were able to feed pandas, clean their cages, and lunch was provided, all for a very reasonable price.

We did fun activities in every city we visited including visiting a Tibetan house, a face changing show, tea houses, museums, and lots of shopping. Amazing, life changing experience. I would highly recommend the work that Maggie does. She will definitely work with you to be flexible and give you exactly the experience you are looking for.

The staff when booking was most helpful and note you will need a VISA to enter China and mine cost me about $190 but is good for 10 years. The flights were long but the flight attendants were very nice. Hotels were very nice and the tour guide spoke very good English. She was very informative but not talking too much that it got boring. Got to see some awesome places I only heard of like Forbidden City, Great Wall, Tiananmen Square,Hou Tong, etc. My only negative was my friend and I did not want to do the Peking Duck dinner (additional fee) so instead of sending us back to the hotel, they made us wait in the drivers dining room while everyone else ate. We had to wait another couple hours until we were back to eat. Awesome part was the free day in Shanghai at the end of the tour. We ended up going to Shanghai Disneyland and what a fun time that was. There was a free shuttle from the hotel to the park and back to hotel at the end of the night. Highly recommend doing this if you have a free day and the Pirates of the Caribbean is out of this world.

We went to Xi’an, Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Four Girls mountain, Wolong and Chengdu. Each city we had a professional tour guide and good accommodation, comfortable transportation, and delicious food. The Wolong Panda preserve center is amazing. We cleaned Panda’s house and cage. We fed the Panda and made Panda cake. We had a memorable time! If you’re going to visit that area, that’s the place you shouldn’t miss. Allen, our tour guide is excellent. He worked so hard to meet our high expectation. He is very knowledgeable. He took care of us as family member, helping people and buying drinks for us. I’ve never met such wonderful tour guide. He definitely is the role model of tour guide!

saw incredibly economical escorted tour from Seattle to 4 cities in China. signed up based on price and opportunity to discover a new country. Did not expect “miracles” considering the price. From the get go, the California office was fantastic, arranging speedily for a 10 year visa. ( faster and better than the online option ). Flight on Hainan from Seattle to Beijing and return from Shanghai with the addition of the Beijing-Shanghai covered the cost of the tour – the eight hotel nights, breakfast, buses and included tours and some of the lunches were just bonuses. Not knowing what to expect hotel wise we were more than pleased with the Beijing Four Points as well of the Grand Metropolitan in Suzhou and Huzhou. The tour guides were superb, not only informative and extremely fluent in English, they were fun and peppered us with anecdotes, Chinese words/vocabulary. With them we got the royal treatment by passing long lines and treated as VIPs in the add-ons we joined. I am looking forward to travel with China Tours or sister company and explore another part of this country. .

Wow! Everything exceeded our expectations – to start with – Jim at the Chino office patiently and quickly answered my many many questions. Which was remarkable customer service since we Went on the China trip through travelzoo. The tour guide – Brian in Beijing treated us royally. Brian was funny and engaging… he made the trip excellent , only wished we had him longer period of time. The tour is very well organized. The hotels were fancy and the free breakfasts were delicious. The sights were great – you do have to go to a shopping destination each day but they were enjoyable – we purchased stuff but there was no pressure. They make you stay at the shopping destination a bit too long … we wished there was a little more free time to explore. It’s a rigorous schedule but well planned. Lots of driving in the bus it’s understandable. We did Disney Shanghai on our last free day which was awesome. The whole trip was cheaper and better than we ever expected. We loved China but most of all the tour guides made it great. Though towards the end we didn’t know an excursion was optional and were surprised to have to pay … so maybe a bit better communication. We would definitely recommend to our friends and would go on s other tour with InterTrips.

If China has been on your bucket list — you don’t need to wait. Between an incredible deal through Groupon and the excellent arrangements managed by ChinaTravel, this trip was affordable, safe, and interesting. Seeing and touching the very buildings, walls, and streets i’ve read about was an incredible experience. This 10-day travels took us to Beijing, Xi’An, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Shanghai and included both historical icons and modern elements. Among the many interesting day trips, my favorite sites were The Great Wall, the Yuyuan Garden, and The Terra Cotta Warriors tour. I actually met the farmer that originally discovered the first warrior. Awesome. Here are a few things to keep in mind: (1) a lot of walking is involved throughout the trip, so wear comfortable, non-slip shoes (flip flops just won’t work) (2) consider your destination, physical limitations, and your determination! (I opted for the “easier” path on the Great Wall and I was exhausted 45 minutes into the 4 hour trek) (3) You simply cannot drink the water anywhere unless it’s bottled (4) Don’t dress to impress: keep it simple, comfortable, weather-appropriate, and modest (5) Some larger businesses accept credit cards but most transactions are yuan only. Leave your credit cards at home (unless you have one that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees); you’ll get a MUCH better exchange rate in the Chinese hotels than you will in a US bank and/or (any) airport (6) Most of our hotels had fabulous and interesting breakfast selections -so don’t be timid about trying something new (7) About hygiene: always have tissues, hand wipes, and hand sanitizer with you. ALWAYS. Public bathrooms are usually “squat toilets” and rarely provide toilet paper and hand soap. (Most stores/businesses do not have their own bathrooms). Just be aware and prepare.

My wife & I recently returned from a tour to China with InterTrips. 11 days starting in Beijing. We saw the Imperial Garden, Tiananmen Square & the Forbidden City, and we walked along the Great Wall. We flew to Shanghai and started by walking along the Bond water front seeing the numerous newlyweds getting their photos taken against the magnificent city skyline. We went to Yellow Mountain where the movie Avatar was inspired. This drive took us to Green Tea farms, Bamboo forests, and numerous small farming towns with picturesque backdrop. We flew on to Xi’an where we experienced another high light visiting the Terra Cotta Warriors. The workmanship and grand scale is truly impressive.
Our guides were all very knowledgeable on the geography, history, economy and local folklore. The hotels we stayed in were all extremely grand; if not 5 star, then they were close. All breakfasts were these grand buffets. All other meals were great as well although we did not get a chance to venture out for some of the famed street food. The tour routed us to shops specializing in pearls, jade, silk, Tea, Bamboo, and a natural medicine pharmacy. Although they were all obviously targeted to us tourists, they were interesting and educational. This was a great introductory tour as our first visit to China and we have a better idea what to see and where to go for a subsequent visit. The price was fantastic!

We started by Shanghai, where we stayed for 4 nights at Grand Hotel Central, very well located, close to the pedestrian street (Nanjing Road), as well as numerous shops, restaurants… It is worth a walk from the hotel to the “The Bund” where there is the most glamorous piece of Shanghai, next to the Huangpu River! A visit to Yuyuan Garden, well-careful garden! To learn a bit more about history we passed through the Sinan Road quarter, the former French Concession…
We also visited Tongli, picturesque Water Town, with its network of canals.
On the fifth day we took a flight to Xian, where we could see the famous Terracota Army to guard the emperor’s tomb, an interesting archaeological discovery! We also saw the Buddhist temple: Big Wild Pagoda as well as the Muslim Quarter, next to the Bell Tower and Drum Tower. We walked through the well preserved wall that surrounds the city of Xian. The next day we took a flight to Guilin, where we went to meet the Reed Flute Cave, with the formation of colorful stalactites with lights… A wonderful boat ride through the Li River, with fantastic view of the fjords at the background of the landscape. Then we could enjoy the tranquility of a small rural village and the wonder of the rice terraces of Longji! Really interesting and beautiful visual!
The next day we depart to Beijing to visit the Forbidden City, and then take a walk along the 1400 year old Great Wall. It was very cool!
The next day we went to see the Temple of Heaven, where emperors held ceremonies to thank the harvests… To return to Shanghai we took the high-speed train that followed 350 km per hour…Fantastic! From there we took the flight back to Brazil.

Ours was the 9 days March 21st-29th Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, and Hangzhou tour, with included visits to the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Summer Palace, among other minor places. The flight from LA to Seattle was a no frill on Alaska Air with layover 5 hours; from Seattle to Beijing was on the new Chinese Hainan Airlines with exceptional service with unheard of all-inclusive whatever you want free of charge. Flight from Beijing to Shanghai was also on the exceptional Hainan Airlines.

The weather was good, on the cold side the entire trip, the Great wall was a little colder with ice / snow covered grounds; and it rained only on the day we left. The included main tours were good with enough time and ample information by the guide. The added stops at the government owned jade factory, pearl, silk factory, tea plantation & a foot massage place (this one in particular was total waste of time, with high pressure sales pitch); those visits were somewhat educational, but the main purpose was a low pressure sales pitch at (IMHO) inflated prices. The optional tours are pricey, we liked the Buddhist Temple visit and the canal cruse in what is called the Chinese Venice. All hotels were top quality and the included breakfast buffets were very good. Guides (Frank in Beijing, Peter and Chi in Shanghai) were very friendly, pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful, and very funny. .
Coming back, we were lucky to get a direct flight from Shanghai to Seattle; other folks had to fly back to Beijing with few hours layover.
Overall, this was a wonderful trip; China has a lot to offer. Learning about the Chinese culture inside China was an unparalleled experience. Will definitely go back, highly recommended.

we did the 8 days beijing-shanghai tour with stops at suzhou and hangzhou. we got to see a lot of the sights, the included tours were terrific. the optional tours are pretty good, but folks are under no obligations to do those. there were stops at government run stores like the jade, pearl, silk, tea & chinese medicine. but those stops were short (1-2 hours), slightly educational, low-no pressure sales pitch. hotels were top quality. guides were knowledgeable. it was much easier to get transported around and have logistics planned for you. i did this trip with my 22 years old son in late april (btw, fall & spring are great time to visit, weather was great). we also had a trip to europe on our own at the beginning of april, and a trip to japan at the end of june. all the trips were great in their own way, but having someone else deal with planning and logistics is much easier than doing it on your own. pretty much every night is on your own, so if you’re comfortable venturing out, it was great. the city is vastly different at night, so it’s a must. subways were the simplest way to get around. with government bans/oversight, VPN are a must, also pre-downloaded maps apps like maps.me make it easy to get around. with most of the logistics taken care of for you, with gps enabled maps, you almost don’t need cell plans.
as for the tours themselves, we got to see the great wall (epic, have to see to appreciate the enormity of it, like the grand canyon in the us), the forbidden city, the summer palace, and various sights around beijing. shanghai was crazy! lots of high rise developments, the old town, the bund, the night market, it was all interesting. suzhou and hangzhou were good detours. lovely “little” cities (8-10 millions instead of 18-20 millions people).
i would definitely recommend this trip, and would even do it again with my wife if she wants to.

This is my first trip advisor review, but because our trip was so fabulous I feel compelled to write. We were nervous about using a foreign company solely based on on-line reviews, but were delighted by the results.
Our review – Our overall experience was excellent. China Tour made us feel comfortable and welcome. The transportation arrangements from pick-ups to transfers to the next location were flawless. Our baggage was handled exceptionally well. The guides went “above and beyond” to ensure that we made our flight, train, bus and boat connections. The hotel accommodations were excellent, from the rooms, to the location, to the breakfasts.
We appreciated the flexibility and change to the itinerary on our day in Shanghai so we could see Zhujiajiao and still see some of the city areas.
The China Tour guides were excellent. Their English was good and we were able to develop a nice relationship with each especially if we were together for 2-3 days. Each guide was knowledgeable and passionate of the city/town they lived in.
We understand that China has been taking steps to improve their wash room facilities. All of the guides were sensitive to that to ensure our needs were met.
The local guides were very good and knowledgeable. They offered many suggestions for meals and joined us several times which made ordering much easier.
The pre-trip “tips” provided were very helpful.-
Specific comments related to guides and drivers:
Leo – made a recommendation to visit the Great Wall on Friday to avoid larger crowds on Saturday which was a good move.
Our driver in Beijing was exceptional in dealing with the many cars, scooters, buses and people.
David in Chengdu really knew his way around the Panda breeding facility and allowed us to see the pandas in action while avoiding much of crowd.
Helen was fantastic with her knowledge of the Terra Cotta warriors and the history of Xi’an. Her energy was great.
Wendy was terrific in sharing Guilin with us. We enjoyed the caves and touring the countryside. It was great to stop by a countryside house and local school.
Warren was very good in showing us some of the key points in Shanghai with the time we had there.

As I was looking at my bucket list this year I came upon The Great Wall of China on my list. That was my main reason to go to China.
I started out visiting my travel agency of previous years and Liz there referred me to chinatour.com for the best experience and guidance on the required visa.
I did my research and I am so pleased (my pockets too) that I was referred to China Tour. I must say that China Tour has the best rates for trips to China and I plan on traveling with them on my future trips to Asia.
I was so happy that Liz referred me to China Tour because since the beginning that I contacted Brian with China Tour he was very helpful. Starting with assisting me with obtaining my China visa. He made the process so easy for me and the process was done so fast that I was able to book my tour to leave as fast as two weeks once I had my approved visa on hand. Brian was so accessible by phone as well as by email with quick response. I was traveling solo from LAX to Beijing and found that all the information given to me by Brian/China Tour was very clearly stated and easy to understand.
I was a bit nervous traveling solo to Beijing because of the language but everything in the itinerary and additional info given to me by Brian was very well put together to guide me on what to do once I deplaned in Beijing and worked myself thru Immigration and Customs and then taking the train to get my luggage and to meet the tour guide. Be prepared that no one in the airport speaks English. I would totally recommend to download a Mandarin translation app before leaving the USA, it will come in very very handy.
Once I picked up my luggage and proceeded to leave the luggage area to try and find the person with the China Tour sign as indicated in my instructions, I was so happy to see that the China Tour guide “Frank” was there waiting for me with the red sign. I met Frank and was told that we would be waiting for two more groups flying in from the USA so I waited in a nearby Cafe. I looked into changing some US dollars to Chinese currency but the exchange rate was not too good in the airport. Frank advised me that in our hotel where we all would be staying there was an ATM as well as a currency exchange machine that would offer the best rates.
All 4 hotels I stayed at while on my tour with China Tour were excellent: Hotel Nikko New Century, Grand Metro Park Hotel, Suzhou, Grand Metro Park Hotel Shangcheng, Sheraton Shanghai Pudong.
Our tour guide Frank in Beijing was just excellent, he is so knowledgeable and just such a nice person. Our other tour guide John in Shanghai was also just as great. I’m so glad China Tour has such knowledgeable tour guides that explain every detail on all the places we visited.
There is so much to say about my trip to China but just not enough space here.
I just want to end this by saying that China Tour knows what they are doing to make people feel at ease when choosing China Tour for their travels and giving the best unforgettable experience that you will want to travel with China Tour on future trips.

In spite of a rocky start due to a bureaucratic visa issue our tour in China, provided by China-tour.com, was flawless in punctuality, hotel quality, seasoned guides and good drivers.Great value.
Make sure you understand with clarity the visa issue dates and lengths and paper trail requirements with plenty of time to avoid last minute stress.
In Beijing and Shanghai hotels closer to the center would be our preference when you add extra days to explore on your own. But I must say the subway is very modern and fast, with ticket machines in other languages to help foreigners.
We almost cancelled the trip when we found out nobody else was booked on this tour (normally we like small group tours). The agent Daisy Ji in Los Angeles convinced us to give it some thought and turned out to be a great thing when we realized how much more flexible and personal this tour became: authentic regional food every day, more time to interact with the guides, addled time or walks in areas not included in the itinerary and experiences with the locals we wouldn’t be able to have with a group! We never got tired of the local food during our 3 weeks in China.
If you add Tibet to the tour like we did, make sure you get a complete itinerary before hand. Due to tight regulations by the government it is impossible to add visits outside Lhasa if they are not previous arranged and with permits.
I was very nervous going to China with no other companions but once we arrived to Beijing and every detail fell into place the experiences started to unfold and to reveal a fascinating energetic and modern country full of contrasts, but safe and clean with a lot less air pollution (travelled from October 5-28) than we anticipated.Cities are extremely large and overwhelming but people are friendly!With limited english spoken a “translate app” helps to engage a question or a smile.

My husband and I took the 9 day 7 night China Tour trip to Beijing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and Shanghai over the Chinese New Year’s Holiday in 2016 along with two of our single friends. We really recommend that time of year because we loved the New Year’s decorations everywhere, the firework shows, the temple festivals, and how nice Beijing was with no crowds or smog. We even got large portions of the Great Wall entirely to ourselves on New Year’s Day with some excellent pictures to show for it. We still can’t believe what a great trip it was considering the cost (with a buy-three, get one free on Living Social, we only paid $675/person to fly from LAX), and find ourselves sharing about the deal all the time. For one of my friends, this was the first time she had traveled outside of America, but the nice accommodations and user-friendly schedule made this an enjoyable and life-changing trip for her. Expect to spend time in high-end government-endorsed jade, silk, jewelry, pearl, and traditional medicine shops, expect to pay the recommended tips for your guides each day, and realize that this tour probably isn’t for you if you don’t like traveling in groups on a bus. But you can’t beat the accommodation, the transportation, the itinerary, and the knowledgeable guides for anything near that price. We loved the add-on extras we splurged on, including two shows, the Hutong tour, and the canal tour, and we were thankful that we could opt into some of these experiences at the last minute. I read one review about a couple who didn’t like having to wait when they opted out of the Peking Duck dinner, but my husband and I used that time to take the subway to the Temple of Heaven where we caught the sunset, and my friends had a blast shopping the whole time right next door to the restaurant. What free time we had was really enjoyable. On our first day, we arrived in the morning and there was nothing official planned, so we walked down to the metro station and began a New Year’s Eve walking tour of Beijing – the city was incredibly easy to navigate and not very busy because everyone was at home for the holiday. We enjoyed lighting our own sparklers outside the hotel by the river in Beijing, and saw every floor of the Shanghai Museum (a taxi took us to the bund, and we walked from there via Old Town and the Shopping District). We also took a day for a walking tour of Westlake (no taxi needed), indulged in excellent 2-hour massages for all of us at the same time. On the last day, we had a free morning in Shanghai, so we took the subway to the Jade Buddha temple and got back in plenty of time. Now, maybe the subway wouldn’t have been a great idea if not for the holiday, but that’s all the more reason I would recommend going over New Year’s. We would absolutely book with China Tours again and are hoping to do so before our visas expire in 10 years! Our confirmation number last year was 16EL25BE.
